Silk elder-statesman Approaching Black, who has contributed nearly a half-dozen tracks to our imprints over the past few ears, returns to Silk Textures with the soothing and romantic "Spend More Time with Me." The Australia native was last featured on Silk Royal Showcase 01 and, more recently, on Silk Textures' own "Kalm" release, under his alter-ego Bodytemp.
In the Original Mix, a seductive vocal hook meshes brilliantly with the deep bassline and atmospheric textures of the tune. Lovely little arp lines, as well as the occasional piano riff, bleed through the mix as well. In the main break, all of these elements are filtered and solo'ed, while the voices of a "spring day at the park" fill out the background.
Soundstorm, who has worked with Silk essentially since the label's inception, makes a triumphant return to the imprint with a quintessentially deep and evocative remix, in which subtle echoes of the original are masterfully infused. This is a stripped-down take, for sure; yet, the veteran Hungarian artist's vision here is all class and is truly a must-add to any deep house fan's after-hours playlist.
Finally, Silk Textures' rising star Dapple Apple contributes a similarly super-chilled rendering. The Ukrainian talent's characteristically water-logged bassline is once again in effect here, while gorgeous pads and delayed chime effects further fill out the soundscape. The titular "Spend More Time With Me" vocal hook also floats through the track, as a Cafe del Mar-inspired rhythm guides the track (and release, in general) to its conclusion.
